Effective September 23, 2026. This policy describes PSAT Pal, the PSAT 8/9 practice app operated by Kirk Graves.
What the app keeps
The app saves your optional first name, answers, practice dates and timing, progress, review schedule, and unfinished regular practice sets, learning memory, and tip history on your device. You may leave the name blank or use a nickname. No student account or email address is required.
What leaves your device
Core practice works on your device, including questions, explanations, adaptation, and recaps. AI coaching is optional and off by default. For coaching, your name, school, question text, and selected answer choices are not sent to an AI service. There is no school dashboard or automatic roster sharing. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDK and does not track you across apps or websites.
If you choose to share a summary, the iOS share sheet sends the content you select through your chosen app or service. That service's privacy policy applies. The app does not automatically email parents or teachers. If you choose to share question details, the report includes the question ID, content version, and app version, without your name or answers.
Optional AI coaching, ages 13+
When available in your build, AI coaching can help choose a focus after a completed nine-question set. To turn it on, confirm that you are at least 13 and explicitly agree to sharing a practice summary in Settings. The summary includes known skill IDs, recent right-and-wrong counts, counts of distinct missed questions and sets, possible mistake-tag counts, latest follow-up recovery, supported next steps, and whether you opened earlier tips and how subsequent practice went. Our coaching service runs on Cloudflare and sends these bounded summaries to OpenAI. The model selects observations and actions and may write a short introduction to a question review. Generated wording is labeled as AI coaching and may be mistaken. The app keeps numerical recaps and question explanations authored. Updated consent covers these aggregate signals and generated wording. No open-ended chat is included.
Our service stores a hashed random installation credential, usage counters, and minimal request records with selected IDs. It does not save the practice evidence or generated introduction. The introduction is saved with learning memory on your device; provider safety-log retention still applies. Installation access lasts 29 days; daily cleanup normally removes installation and request metadata within 30 days. Aggregate spending totals contain no installation reference. Infrastructure providers may process ordinary connection and security information to operate the service.
OpenAI does not train on API data by default. Its safety logs may contain request and response data and retain it for up to 30 days. Sending a request with storage disabled does not eliminate those logs. Read OpenAI’s API data controls.
You can skip a suggestion, turn AI off, or clear learning memory in Settings. Turning AI off stops future coaching requests; it does not recall data already processed. Practice continues without AI. To report an unhelpful suggestion, use Help with a suggestion in Settings.
Optional AI tutor, ages 13+
The same Settings consent covers the AI tutor. When you miss a question in regular practice, the AI tutor sends the question’s ID and version, your answer, and which tutor button you tapped to our service, where an AI model running on Cloudflare writes the explanation; nothing else about you is sent. Our service keeps each explanation for up to two days so a follow-up can build on it, then deletes the text. Request records and daily counts are removed within 30 days. Explanations you open are saved with that answer on your device and are removed by “Delete all practice data.” Generated text is labeled AI tutor and may be mistaken; the authored explanation stays available.
Backups and deletion
Device backups may include app data, depending on your Apple backup settings. To remove saved practice from this installation, open Settings in PSAT Pal and choose “Delete all practice data,” then confirm. This removes the local name, answers, saved sets, learning memory, AI credential, and preferences. Service records expire as described above; local deletion cannot recall provider safety logs. Copies you previously shared and existing device backups are managed separately in those services.
Children and school use
This pilot is for students ages 13 and older. The app does not create a student roster, collect student contact information, or give schools remote access to individual practice. Families and schools decide whether and how students use it. Students should ask a parent, guardian, or teacher before sending a support email or sharing a summary.
Support and this website
If you email support, the developer receives your email address and the information you choose to include to respond. Please do not send student names, school records, or other sensitive information. You can request deletion of your support correspondence by email.
This website has no analytics scripts, data-collection forms, advertising, or cookies set by its own code. The hosting service may process ordinary connection and security information, such as an IP address, to deliver the website.
